Pacquiao, a devout Catholic beam to Filipino news agencies about same sex marriage on Monday, and the comments he made are horrific and damaging, to say the least.

“Woman was made for man, man was made for woman. It’s common sense. Will you see animals where male is to male and female to female? The animals are better. They know how to distinguish, male or female,” Pacquiao stated.

Manny Pacquiao added, “If we approved male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animals.”

There are many people who have been affected about his statement especially to those persons who have same sex marriages.

The country’s most popular gay comedian, Vice Ganda, posted for #PrayForMannyPacquiao to his 6.7 million followers on twitter as he hit back at the boxer, adding: “Some people think they can judge people like God just because they’ve attended a prayer meeting and read the Bible. The Senate needs experts on politics and law, not blind prophets.”

“The LGBT is a group of people. We are humans. Though were no saints we will pray for Manny Pacquiao,” Vice Ganda added.

The singer Aiza Seguerra, who recently married her actress-girlfriend, called on voters to boycott Pacquiao, who is also preparing for his last fight in April, calling him an “ignorant, bigoted hypocrite.”

Seguerra added, “You might have done our country proud but with your statement, you just showed the whole country why we shouldn’t vote for you.”

Pacquiao, beaten by Floyd Mayweather in May last year, represents the province of Sarangani in the House of Representatives, though is often absent. In one of his few speeches, Pacquiao quoted heavily from the bible as he attempted to stop a proposed law, since passed, giving free condoms to the poor.

Responding to the controversy via Instagram, Pacquiao initially posted an image of himself with his wife, quoting the bible and writing: “I rather obey the Lord’s command than obeying the desire of the flesh. I’m not condemning anyone, but I’m just telling the truth of what the Bible says.”

Later, though, Manny Pacquiao added an apology, saying: “I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same sex marriage because of what the bible says, but I’m not condemning LGBT. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I’m praying for you all.”

In January Tyson Fury was reminded of his heavy responsibilities by the British Boxing Board of Control for his controversial remarks about homosexuality.

MANILA, Philippines — Comedian Vice Ganda is among the first celebrities to call out Manny Pacquiao over his statements against same sex marriage.

In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the comedian reminded his followers and bashers that the issue is not him but about the "serious remark" made by Pacquiao.

He also asked netizens not to divert the issue.

"I am not the issue. This is not about me. It is about a serious remark that affects the entire LGBT community. Don't divert the issue," Vice said.

He also said, “A joke of a comedian is different from a statement of a ‘politician.’ So why take a joke seriously and take a serious statement as a joke?”

Vice is not the only celebrity to hit Pacquiao over what many international media outfits have called his "homophobic slur." Lea Salonga, John Lapus, Boy Abunda and even American TV personality Perez Hilton have criticized the boxer for his comments.

“Last point, We are talking about common sense. You're running for senator? This is my question, this is just my personal question: do you think I – or our countrymen in this studio or those at home – would I vote for a person who doesn't see me as a person? Would I vote for someone who thinks I am worse than an animal? Manny, the answer, in your own words, is common sense,” Boy Abunda said on his night show, Tonight with Boy Abunda.

“You can say that you don't agree with same-sex marriage, but to say that gays and lesbians are worse than animals, that's not right!” Ai Ai Delas Alas said.

“Read before you click, think before you speak," Ai-Ai advised.

“For me, he’s in government right? Whatever is his personal opinion, he should keep it to himself. He should just shut up. He’s acting like a girl,” Nora Aunor Said. Nora also added that Pacquiao is a womanizer and gambler which is worse than animals.

MANILA, Philippines - Boxing star and Philippine Senate candidate Manny Pacquiao apologized Tuesday for reproving people in gay relationships as "worse than animals" but said he stood by his opposition to same sex marriage.

Fellow Filipino celebrities were among those criticizing his remarks, made when a TV network asked candidates about their views on same-sex marriage.

"It's just common sense," Pacquiao said in the remarks posted online by the TV5 network. "Have you seen any animal having male-to-male or female-to-female relations?"

Animals, he said, were better because they recognize gender differences, and "if you have male-to-male or female-to-female (relationships), then people are worse than animals.”

Among those who reacted strongly was popular gay comedian and TV host Jose Marie Viceral, known as Vice Ganda. Vice Ganda tweeted that lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders are humans, not animals. He said that they're not saints, but that they'll pray for the boxer, who is widely acclaimed for bringing his country honors.

Vice Ganda posted a picture of Pope Francis, suggesting that even the beloved leader of the Roman Catholic church does not condemn gays. He quoted the pope: "If a person is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"

Danton Remoto, chairman of the LGBT group Ladlad, said Pacquiao's comments betray a shallow understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity.

"He is running for a national position and he should be a senator of everybody, not just over-the-hill boxers and straight people," Remoto said by phone, adding Pacquiao and his advisers "should bone up on LGBT issues" of the 21st century.

Trump terminates TPP

President Trump upended formally abandoned the ambitious, 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership brokered by his predecessor and declared an end to the era of multinational trade agreements that defined global economics for decades.

With the stroke of a pen on his first full weekday in office, Mr. Trump signaled that he plans to follow through on promises to take a more aggressive stance against foreign competitors as part of his “America First” approach.

Although the Trans-Pacific Partnership had not been approved by Congress, Mr. Trump’s decision to withdraw not only doomed former President Barack Obama’s signature trade achievement, but also carried broad geopolitical implications in a fast-growing region.

The deal, which was to link a dozen nations from Canada and Chile to Australia and Japan in a complex web of trade rules, was sold as a way to permanently tie the United States to East Asia and create an economic bulwark against a rising China.

Instead, Mr. Trump said American workers would be protected against competition from low-wage countries like Vietnam and Malaysia, also parties to the deal.

But some in both parties worry that China will move to fill the economic vacuum as America looks inward, and will expand its sway over Asia and beyond.
